Science Week in the Senior Room

We have been busy in the senior room investigating renewable energy all week. Today we put our new knowledge to practical use and built our very own solar powered electrical circuits powering LED lights. We also tested out our circuits with standard lights, motors and buzzers while incorporating switches into our circuits at the end.

Guess Who?

Our class have been busy with portrait drawing in Art this month and have put their skills to good use to create imaginative Crazy Hair portraits of themselves. Here are just some examples from the class, have a look and see if there are any new hairstyles you may wish to try at home!!

School Timeline

We have been busy in the senior room updating our school and parish timeline and finding an appropriate area to display it in. It has now been fully updated to include many major events in the history of our school and parish right up to St Thomas' recent 3 in a row success and is on display in the Tom McGarry Hall!

4th, 5th and 6th class have been busy this month learning and implementing the steps involved in Report Writing. Here in Peterswell, we always try and link our report writing with events that have happened in the children's school lives recently. That has been a challenge recently as our trips out of school have been curtailed. With that in mind, our class held a class league in hurling/camogie and we used this as an area we could report on. We used newspaper match reports to help us generate the language and structures for our reports and had lots of fun cutting out our favourite articles!!

I and The Village

Recently, we have been studying the art created by Marc Chagall. We learned about his early years growing up in a small village in Belarus before moving to Paris to study Art. We discovered how he became passionate about cubism and surrealism in Paris but retained fond memories of his childhood in Belarus which he expressed in his painting 'I and the Village'. Here are some of our versions of Marc Chagall's work looking back on happy memories of our own childhoods so far!
